What social media APIs return

A social media API returns public records from a platform such as X (Twitter), Reddit, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn or Farcaster. The usual records are posts with their text and engagement counts, account profiles with bio and follower counts, the comments or replies under a post, and lists of trending topics. An agent can use them to monitor a brand, research an audience, collect examples for a report or check an account before contacting it.

The same word covers products that do different things. Reading a post, reading the profile of its author, reading the replies under it and reading who follows the author are four requests with four costs. A transcript of a video is text derived from the media, not the post record. An ad library returns advertisements, not organic posts. A growth service that sells followers or views, a widget that embeds videos and a simulation of how people might react are not social data, so they stay out of this comparison.

Access can come from a scraper or a reseller rather than from the platform's own developer program. That changes what you can promise downstream. Fields can change when the platform changes its pages, rate limits sit with the provider's upstream, and the platform's terms and privacy rules still apply to what you store and publish. Treat a route as a data supplier whose output you verify, and keep personal data to the minimum your workflow needs.

Platform names are not interchangeable either. An X search syntax does not work on Reddit, a TikTok username is not a YouTube channel ID, and a LinkedIn company page is a different record from a LinkedIn profile. Before comparing prices, write down the platform, the identifier you hold and the record you need back.

Compare the returned data, platforms and sources

Posts, profiles and comments are the primary types: a service needs a priced route of one of them to enter the comparison, and its row quote is the lowest of those routes. Follower lists, trend lists, transcripts, ad records, media links and derived signals are listed as separate types because they answer other questions. They can sit next to a qualifying route, but they cannot qualify a service or set its row price on their own.

A route can belong to several types. A Reddit user history returns both posts and comments; a combined Instagram or TikTok route with profile, post and comment modes counts in each of them. The type table below shows each service's lowest quote per type, with the endpoint kept on every price.

Platform coverage comes from the matched route itself, its path or its description, not from the list of platforms in a service's marketing text. On 5 of the 17 compared services a matched route names X or Twitter, on 5 it names Reddit, on 6 Instagram, on 4 TikTok, on 7 YouTube and on 3 LinkedIn. A route whose description repeats only its path tells you the platform, not the returned fields.

Upstream names are the providers' statements. StableSocial name Scrape Creators on matched routes. ApiToll Reddit Scraper say the data is scraped through Apify. A named upstream explains where the records are said to come from; it does not prove completeness, freshness or the right to reuse them.

$/CALL is the price of the endpoint named under it: the cheapest public posts, videos or casts from a search, account, feed or community, public profiles of accounts, channels, pages or communities and comments, replies or reactions under a post endpoint of the service or, for a service without one, its cheapest social data endpoint. Never the cheapest tool of a gateway. Other kinds of data have their own price in the tables below. SOCIAL DATA ENDPOINTS counts the social data endpoints out of all the endpoints the service lists. BUYERS 30D counts distinct wallets that paid the whole service on-chain in 30 days, not only its social data endpoints. "Generalist" marks a gateway that sells more than three unrelated kinds of tools: it is never called the cheapest.

How to choose a social media endpoint

Start from the identifier you hold

A handle, a numeric user ID, a post URL, a keyword and a hashtag lead to different routes. A lookup can require a numeric ID that only another call returns, which doubles the cost of the first answer. Check which input each candidate accepts before you compare quotes.

Count the records per call

A search can return one post, 20 posts or a page with a cursor. A per-call quote and a per-record quote are different units: divide a per-call price by the records you keep, and multiply a per-record price by the records you expect. Pagination turns one question into several paid calls.

Check the fields you will store

Write down the fields your workflow needs, such as text, author, timestamp, URL, like and reply counts, follower counts or media links. Run a known account and a known post through each candidate and compare the records field by field. A missing timestamp or a count returned as null changes what the record can prove.

Respect time and deletion

Engagement counts move by the minute and posts can be edited or deleted. Store the capture time with every record and do not present an old count as current. If a post disappears from the platform, decide whether your own copy should disappear too.

Test the operating limits

The monitored median uptime is 100% and the median selected quote is $0.01. Monitoring latency describes our checks, not how fresh the returned posts are. Try a private account, a deleted post and an empty search, and record how each answer looks and whether it is charged.

Choose by the output your workflow needs

Start with the record your next step can use. The candidates below use the same type classification as the comparison table. Each quote belongs to the lowest priced endpoint of the requested types, with the path kept.

Find public posts about a topic or from an account

Fix the platform, the query syntax and the time window before comparing quotes. Keep the post URL, the author handle, the timestamp and the engagement counts together, because a count without its capture time cannot be compared with a later one.

Look up an account, channel or company page

Decide which identifier you hold: a handle, a numeric ID, a profile URL or a keyword. A search route returns candidates to choose from; a lookup route returns the record of one account you already know.

Read the conversation under a post

Pass the post URL or ID and check how deep the thread goes and how many replies come back per call. A long thread can need several paid pages, so store the cursor with each page.

What the providers describe

These paragraphs attribute output contracts and limits to each provider. Reference prices follow the matching endpoint type rather than an amount written in a marketing description.

twit.sh

twit.sh describes X (Twitter) data returned as X v2 compatible JSON. Tweet search takes filters such as words, hashtags, author, minimum likes and a date range, and returns up to 20 tweets per page, most recent first; other routes look up tweets by ID, read a user's timeline or a List, find accounts and page through followers and following. Post data starts at $0.0025, profiles at $0.005 and follower lists at $0.01. The provider also advertises write endpoints and a mentions timeline for the authenticated account; those act for an account rather than read public data, so they stay out of this comparison.

9 social data endpoints of 10 · $0.0025/call (GET /tweets/by/id) · Base · uptime 30d 100% · 206 ms · 71 buyers in 30 days

agdata

agdata sells one route per platform and job. The X route returns an account's tweets or a search, with text, time, URL and like, repost, reply, quote and view counts plus the author's handle and follower count; separate routes return X replies and Instagram, TikTok and YouTube comments for a post URL. Its Reddit route returns posts only, and the provider states that comment, profile and subreddit records are not returned there. The LinkedIn route looks up one public profile per call with headline, location, experience and education. Posts start at $0.0132, comments at $0.0132 and the profile lookup at $0.027.

StableSocial

StableSocial describes public social data across TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, X, LinkedIn, Facebook and Reddit, aggregated from third-party scraping providers behind one route set. The captured routes name Scrape Creators and cover Facebook profile posts, Instagram reels, TikTok profiles and videos using a song, YouTube channel details, videos and community posts, a subreddit's details and Truth Social posts. Posts start at $0.06 and profiles at $0.06. A Facebook company-ads route returns ad library records, a separate type at $0.06.

10 social data endpoints of 10 · $0.06/call (POST /api/sc/facebook/profile/posts) · Base/SOL · uptime 30d 100% · 244 ms · 74 buyers in 30 days

fetcher.sh — Twitter, TikTok, Instagram & Web Data APIs

fetcher.sh lists Reddit feeds sorted by best, hot, new and top, Reddit post, subreddit and user search, X search, user search and trends, TikTok post lookup and search, Instagram user search, and YouTube video and channel search plus a trending list. Its endpoint descriptions repeat the route name, so the returned fields have to be read in its own catalog before you rely on them. Posts start at $0.002, profiles at $0.002 and trend lists at $0.005. The same host sells news, maps, search and app-store data; those prices do not describe a social request.

Linked Panda

Linked Panda describes a read-only API over LinkedIn data. It looks up and searches profiles and company pages, returns reactions and comments for a LinkedIn post, and searches the LinkedIn ad library. Profile and company records start at $0.05, post reactions at $0.05 and ad search at $0.05. The provider also sells work-email lookup and job search; those are enrichment and hiring products, not public social data, so they stay out of the comparison.

ApiToll Reddit Scraper

ApiToll Reddit Scraper describes four Reddit routes: keyword search sitewide or within a subreddit, a subreddit feed, the comment tree of a post URL with depth and limit controls, and a user's recent posts and comments. Search results carry title, author, subreddit, score, comment count, permalink and timestamp. The provider says the data is scraped live through Apify, without a Reddit login or API key. Posts start at $0.03 and comment threads at $0.03.

Hirescrape

Hirescrape describes one route each for Instagram, LinkedIn and TikTok, with modes for profiles, posts, reels or comments, plus TikTok Shop and job-board routes that are not social data. The provider says the price per record is declared in the 402 response, so the listed quote of $0.00225 is a per-record reference rather than the cost of a page of results. Ask the route for the quote of your exact request and multiply by the records you expect before comparing it with a per-call route.

3 social data endpoints of 5 · $0.00225/call (POST /api/tools/instagram) · Base · uptime 30d 100% · 162 ms · 15 buyers in 30 days

Neynar

Neynar describes Farcaster protocol data: a cast by hash, a feed and a user lookup by handle. Casts and feeds start at $0.01 and the user lookup at $0.01. Farcaster is an open protocol, so the same cast can be read through other Farcaster clients; the route still decides which fields, filters and page sizes you get.

3 social data endpoints of 3 · $0.01/call (GET /v2/farcaster/cast) · Base · uptime 30d 100% · 318 ms · 13 buyers in 30 days

Semagram

Semagram describes semantic search over Telegram channels, groups and bots, which makes it a discovery route for accounts rather than a reader of messages. The listed quote is $0.01, and the provider says the price scales with the number of results, so check the quote for the result count you request.

Each service at the price of its main social data endpoint, the one named in the table above.

Social monitoring multiplies calls quickly. Ten brand keywords searched every 15 minutes take 960 calls a day before any profile or comment lookup, and every extra page of results is another call. A profile lookup for each new author and a comment page for each popular post can cost more than the search that found them. Keep the exact endpoint, parameters and quote with each result, so a cheap search is not mistaken for the cost of a full monitoring day.

Set a budget per topic and a stopping rule for pagination. Separate an empty search, a private or deleted record and an unavailable upstream in the result record. The provider's terms decide whether those outcomes are charged. Read the payment challenge for the exact request before authorizing it, and do not estimate a social workload from a gateway's cheapest unrelated tool.

Inspect a request and its payment evidence

For post search, Twitter/X API documents GET /search, with a reference quote of $0.005. The provider describes structured filters or raw advanced-search syntax and up to 20 normalized tweets per call with author details, engagement metrics and a pagination cursor. Read its current schema to pass the query you need, and verify that the response carries the fields your workflow stores.

The listed method and description establish the advertised contract. This explanation does not reproduce an HTTP 402 challenge or certify a paid response. Open the service page's payment evidence and obtain the challenge for the exact request before authorizing payment. Compare resource, method, input, network, asset and amount together; do not reuse a challenge from a neighboring profile or trend route.

How this comparison is built

The comparison starts with services that are online and payment-ready, have a known price, a description of at least 80 characters and measured 30-day uptime of at least 90%. Task selection then reads the documented endpoints. Social words in a service description can make a service a candidate without proving that a captured route returns posts, profiles or comments. Pages below the index threshold can still be read directly.

Provider claims were reviewed against the public service and endpoint descriptions captured on October 22, 2026. They remain provider claims. Monitoring supplies operating figures and reference prices; it does not measure how complete or fresh the returned records are, or whether a provider may resell them. Buyer counts describe observed paying wallets for the service, with the coverage limits explained on its linked page.

The endpoint classification supplies the comparison quote, per-type prices and job candidates. A row needs a fixed quote for a route that returns public posts, profiles or comments. Transcripts, ad records, media links, trend lists, follower lists and derived signals stay adjacent types. Routes that write for an account, read an authenticated account's notifications, buy followers or views, or generate posts with a language model stay out of the quote.

Questions

Is a zero-price option available?

The 17 listed services have positive per-call prices for their task endpoints. A free trial, a sample or a status route does not establish a zero-price paid route; check the exact input shape and the provider's terms.

What do 100,000 calls cost?

At the median selected quote, 100,000 calls total $1,000.00 at $0.01 per call. This reference calculation assumes the same request shape and excludes pagination, profile lookups and retries.

Does HTTP 402 establish a correct paid answer?

It establishes a payment requirement for the request. A stored challenge, an observed payment and an accurate response are different evidence. Inspect the resource and request schema before using payment terms.

Are these routes the platforms' official APIs?

Each provider describes its own access. Scraping public pages or reselling a third-party scraper is not the platform's developer program, so read how a provider says it collects the data. Check the provider's terms and the platform's rules before storing or republishing records.

Is a per-record price the same as a per-call price?

No. A per-call quote buys one response, which can hold one record or a page of them. A per-record quote is multiplied by the records returned. Convert both to the cost of the records you actually keep before comparing.

Can I read private accounts or direct messages?

The comparison selects routes that read public data. Private accounts, direct messages and an account's own notifications need that account's authorization, and routes that act for an account are left out of this comparison.

Why are transcripts and ad libraries not enough to qualify a service?

A transcript is text derived from a video and an ad library returns advertisements. Both are useful, but neither returns the posts, profiles or comments that define this task, so they are listed as adjacent types.

How fresh are engagement counts?

A count is a snapshot at the time the provider read it, and a provider can cache results. Store the capture time with every count, and compare counts only when they were read at a similar moment.

Can I store and republish what a social media API returns?

That depends on the platform's terms, the provider's terms and the privacy law that applies to the people in the records. Keep only the fields you need, respect deletions and check the rules for your use; this page is not legal advice.

How to pay

Each service answers an unpaid call with HTTP 402 and its price; your agent signs a USDC payment on the listed network and retries. No API key, no account, no subscription. See what x402 is.
