What stock APIs do

A stock API gives an application a documented route from a symbol or company identifier to a particular equity-related output. For a simple integration, that output might be a quote to display beside a watchlist. For a research job, it might be daily bars, earnings history or a filing record. The input can look similar while the response contract and paid unit differ. Start with the fields the caller needs and select the matching endpoint type.

A useful quote contract identifies the instrument, price currency, observation time, session and delay. A useful history contract adds interval, date range and adjustment rules. A useful company-data contract identifies the reporting period, accounting context and source. These fields give an agent enough structure to detect that a result is stale, unsupported or unsuitable without interpreting a free-form paragraph as a price feed.

Symbol resolution deserves explicit handling. A familiar ticker can refer to different instruments across exchanges, token markets or derivative venues. Keep exchange and instrument identifiers when available. If the endpoint takes a token contract, a stock ticker or a provider-specific symbol, preserve that input type in the result record. Do not join two responses solely because their short labels match.

Pay-per-call access makes a small prototype possible without assuming a subscription contract. It still requires a realistic count of the requests needed for one accepted result. A watchlist may need one bounded multi-symbol response or many single-symbol calls. A research request can need pagination or follow-up products. Check those limits before projecting a per-call quote into a recurring job budget.

Which stock data each route returns

This page uses the endpoint classification of the Stock Market API page, which defines each type and explains why tokenized, index and multi-asset products stay apart from share prices. Here the table covers the services whose name or description mentions stocks, tickers, quotes or US equities.

For a stock lookup, two rows of the table matter first: equity quotes and equity price history. A quote answers what a share trades at now or after a stated delay; a history answers how it traded over a window you choose.

$/CALL is the price of the endpoint named under it: the cheapest equity quote snapshots and quoted comparison bundles and equity price history and weekly price rows endpoint of the service or, for a service without one, no price: that service stays out of the median, the cheapest and the cost table. Never the cheapest tool of a gateway. Other kinds of data have their own price in the tables below. STOCK ENDPOINTS counts the stock endpoints out of all the endpoints the service lists. BUYERS 30D counts distinct wallets that paid the whole service on-chain in 30 days, not only its stock endpoints. "Generalist" marks a gateway that sells more than three unrelated kinds of tools: it is never called the cheapest.

Before the first paid stock call

Fix the symbol format first

Write down how each route expects a ticker: a bare symbol, a path segment, a list parameter or an exchange suffix. Keep the symbol the response returns next to the one you sent, so a silent substitution is visible. A short list of the symbols you need, with a few that should fail, makes the first paid test cheap and readable.

Decide how fresh a quote must be

A watchlist can tolerate a delay that an alert or an order screen cannot. Read whether the quote route documents a delay, a tier or a session, and store the quote time with the price. A route without a documented quote time leaves freshness unknown, which is different from current.

Size the history request

Ask for the interval and window the next step uses. A daily series for a year and a weekly series for a decade are different requests with different row counts. Keep the interval, the adjustment basis and the last date with the series so a refresh appends instead of overwriting.

Count calls per refresh

One ticker per call turns a watchlist into as many paid requests as symbols. A route that accepts several symbols changes that count, and a request that fails before returning data can still be billed where the provider says so. Write the expected calls per refresh before choosing on the per-call price.

Quotes or history: pick the job

This page compares two jobs: a quote and a price history. Each candidate is quoted on its cheapest route of that type, with the path kept. Filings, earnings, research and tokenized instruments are compared job by job on the Stock Market API page.

Equity quote snapshots and quoted comparison bundles

Send the symbol in the format the route documents and keep the returned symbol, currency and quote time. A delayed quote suits a watchlist display; an order screen needs the session and delay stated.

What a watchlist or a backfill costs

A watchlist refresh is a practical unit for a stock API. At the median quote or history price of $0.01, a 100-ticker refresh with one call per ticker costs $1.00, and the same refresh every hour of a 30-day month (72,000 calls) totals $720.00. A backfill is counted in requests too: one request per ticker and window, as many times as the window has to be split.

Each service at the price of its main stock endpoint, the one named in the table above.

The table multiplies each row price by the call count. It leaves out a real-time tier, extra symbols and a retried request priced differently. Request the payment challenge for the exact symbol, tier and window before a large run.

One quote request, step by step

x402.eleeth.com documents GET /api/stock as stock quotes, with a ticker query parameter shown as ?ticker=AAPL in its description. Its row in the table names the same path and its price. The description does not state a delay, a session or the currency of the quote, so store what the response returns and treat a missing quote time as unknown freshness. The catalog reference quote for this method and path is $0.01; it is not a verified quote for a different method or request body.

No HTTP 402 challenge was stored for this path, so this page does not show one or certify a paid response. Ask the route for the challenge of your exact symbol, check the resource, network, asset and amount it names, and keep them with the response you receive.

How this page selects stock APIs

This page applies the listing criteria, the endpoint review of October 22, 2026 and the type classification described on the Stock Market API page. It then keeps the services whose name or description mentions stocks, tickers, quotes or US equities. A service whose only stock product is a paper scoreboard without its method is left out by hand, even though its description uses the word stock.

The row price, the median and the cost table read the same equity quote and price-history prices as that page, so a service listed on both pages has the same row price on each. Provider descriptions remain provider claims.

Questions

Which services on this page quote a single ticker?

StableFinance, x402stock, LoneStarOracle EquityScope, TickersFeed, SwarmIO Cloud, x402.eleeth.com and Herramientas Cobrables document an equity quote route here. The $/CALL column names the path and its price; a token venue's price for a tokenized share is listed under tokenized data, not as a quote.

Can one request price several tickers?

Where its route says so. x402stock describes a comparison of two to three US-listed stocks per call, and SwarmIO Cloud live quotes for up to eight symbols across stocks, ETFs, crypto pairs and FX. Read each route's input contract before sending a list.

Is a stock quote real-time or delayed?

It depends on the route and sometimes on the request. Read the quote path's description, store the quote time the response returns and compare it with the session you need. A delayed quote can serve a watchlist; it cannot confirm the price an order will fill at.

Daily or weekly history: which one do I need?

Agent402.tools, StableFinance and Stock Trends Market Intelligence document equity history here, and the interval is part of each route's contract. A weekly row suits a trend screen over years, a daily bar a backtest over months; the Stock Market API page explains why the two series stay apart.

Is an ETF covered like a stock?

Where the description says so: TickersFeed names stocks and ETFs on NYSE, NASDAQ and AMEX for its quote route, and Stock Trends Market Intelligence North American equities and ETFs. Test the ETF symbols you need before a paid batch.

Does the exchange of a ticker matter?

Yes: the same letters can name different companies on different exchanges. Agent402.tools, StableFinance, x402stock, TickersFeed, Coil Scanner board, Atlas Market Data and SwarmIO Cloud explicitly describe US stocks or US exchanges in their matched route descriptions. For another market, send the exchange or suffix the route documents and check the returned name.

What if a ticker is not supported?

A route can answer an unknown symbol with an error, an empty result or a close match. Send a short list with symbols you know should fail, read how the route reports them and whether the provider bills that outcome, then pay for the full list.

What does refreshing a 100-ticker watchlist cost?

At the median quote or history price, 100 single-ticker calls total $1.00 at $0.01 each. A route that prices several tickers per call changes the count, and a real-time tier can change the price.

How to pay

Each service answers an unpaid call with HTTP 402 and its price; your agent signs a USDC payment on the listed network and retries. No API key, no account, no subscription. See what x402 is.
